1870 Ariel Type High Wheel Bicycle

This ariel pattern bicycle was orginally a wooden boneshaker
velocipede made by E.B. Turner Co. of England. The Starley Cycle
Co. in England advertised that they would take in trade or buy well
made 1860's boneshakers to convert them to the ariel pattern with
metal rims, rubber tires, and their patented tension bar system of
tightening all the spokes at one time. This is one the very rare
conversions in existence.
