| In 1817 Baron Karl Von Draise was credited with building the first wooden contraption with two wooden wheels. You sat on the connecting log and walked it along. He called it the Draisine. |
| 1839 - Kirkpatrick McMillon was the first to build an all wood Hobby Horse with two foot levers connected to the rear drive wheel. This was the first time you could take your feet off the ground and propel yourself forward. |
| 1831 improved the Draisine with an adjustable seat, rear wheel brake, and improved steering. Still required walking power. |
| 52 inch highwheel with wood rims and iron tires. This was the first use of wire spokes. |
